The short answer
Use this workflow after arrival when a pre-booked private transfer or shared airport shuttle is not at the named pickup, or when the operator says the traveller missed it. This is not an ordinary taxi search, a public coach disruption or a missed-flight process. Stay in a safe permitted arrivals area, identify the exact booking, vehicle operator, meeting point, local time and wait rule, and use only verified booking channels. Obtain one written outcome—continue waiting, move to an authenticated pickup, accept an operator-approved replacement or close the transfer—before travelling or paying. An eSIM can support limited non-urgent web tasks; it cannot identify a driver, authorize a vehicle, decide fault or refund rights, provide calls or SMS, or guarantee airport reception.
Stay safe and classify the failed pickup
Remain in a staffed, public and permitted arrivals area unless airport staff direct otherwise. Account for every traveller, child, mobility need, bag, medicine, document and working phone before anyone separates. Record the airport, terminal, arrivals exit, local date and time. Distinguish a flight still in progress, baggage delay, immigration delay, a driver not present, a wrong meeting point and an operator claiming passenger no-show. Do not enter a car park, service road or unknown vehicle because a message displays your name. For immediate danger or urgent welfare needs, use the airport or local emergency route rather than trying to install an eSIM.
Read the booking and meeting instructions together
Open the original confirmation through the account, email or app used to book. Record privately the seller, legal transfer supplier, operating company if named, booking reference, flight number, destination, passenger count, included baggage, scheduled pickup, flight-monitoring promise, grace period and exact meeting description. Compare terminal maps and official signs without assuming that arrivals hall, information desk, taxi rank and a numbered pickup zone are interchangeable. Preserve actual landing, border and baggage-release times. A reseller status, map pin, handwritten board or driver's first name alone does not prove who controls the contract or vehicle.
Contact only the responsible verified operator
Use the support route in the original confirmation, the authenticated booking account or an official site opened independently. Ask who is operating the ride, whether the booking is active, where the authorized driver or dispatcher is, which vehicle and registration may be disclosed safely, how long to wait and whether movement to another zone is required. Share only the minimum booking facts through that channel. Reject unsolicited payment links, unknown messaging profiles, cash demands and drivers who cannot be verified by the responsible company. Keep the airline, airport, booking seller, transfer operator, package organizer and insurer separate: each may control a different decision.
Obtain one written outcome before moving or paying
Require a clear instruction with local time: wait at the named staffed point until a deadline; meet an authenticated driver at an exact permitted zone; accept a named replacement with full price and accessibility terms; or close the transfer and use another safe route. Confirm who pays, whether the original booking remains open and how luggage, child seats and mobility equipment are handled. Do not assume a late flight creates a free replacement, or that a driver absence automatically creates a refund. Your Europe explains conditional package-travel responsibilities, but a standalone transfer may be governed differently. Preserve the written decision and itemised receipts; resolve reimbursement separately after immediate transport is stable.
Secure the onward route, then measure ordinary data
Write the accepted route from the terminal where the group actually is to the confirmed accommodation or connection. Include every traveller, vehicle, meeting point, border, check-in deadline and staffed fallback. Save non-sensitive instructions offline and agree a fixed reunion point if the party separates. Subtract tested airport Wi-Fi, working home roaming, staffed assistance and files already saved. Consider an eSIM only for a measured remainder such as verified operator messages, modest map refreshes or a non-urgent accommodation update, after checking every country, activation trigger, validity, allowance and the exact unlocked compatible phone. Stop if the need is emergency help, driver authorization, guaranteed pickup, conventional calls, SMS, a local number or guaranteed signal.
